COGENERATION COMBINED HEAT & POWER (Cogen)

Cogeneration (Cogen) through combined heat and power (CHP) is the simultaneous production of electricity with the recovery and utilization of heat generated through the process. Cogen is a highly efficient form of energy conversion, which can achieve savings of up to 50% on energy consumption. This highly efficient form of energy conversion is becoming increasingly popular as electricity prices continue to climb. Cogen is best suited to clients who can use some if not all of the heat. Those who would best take advantage of this process would include industrial and institutional clients, as well as some high density residential applications. Government grants are available for this technology subject to achieving certain thresholds.
